1. I HAVE To make art. I have no choice.
2.Bookbag contains: sketchbook, lots of pens and pencils. Digital Camera and reference materials for whatever I am presently working on. I have filled ten 8.5”x11” sketchbooks in the past 14 years.
3. I really don’t care whether or not people like my work. I do it for me and I’m just lucky that people do like my work. Catharsis is a beautiful thing. The mental anguish that causes the catharsis, however, is very ugly
4. Words I try to convey in my work;
women-sensuous or contemplative
men-dashing or contemplative
animals-cute, make them go “aaaaawwwwww”
technical-either elegant, sexy or cool. Bentley’s are elegant, Ferraris are sexy and Ducatis are cool.
5.I have an extensive design and engineering background and it definitely comes through in my work.
Line thickness conveys shadow. Crisp, tight lines and high amounts of pen control are necessary. I use several drafting standards and equipment in my fine art.
6. Constantly studying my past work. You can always make the next one better.
7. I ‘m a professional residential/commercial painter. I rarely use artist paint. High-grade house paint is cheaper and covers better for my work.
8. Average finished piece is 20” x 24”. As big as 6 x 4 feet and small as 5 x5 inches.
9.EVERYTHING is thoroughly planned out in Photoshop. Saves a lot of time and materials.
10. Born and trained artist/designer. Savannah College of Art and Design, 1998 Graduate
